Last night at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles, Annie Lennox hosted an album listening party for her forthcoming album release Nostalgia.
From all of the frenzied activity on various social networks, the evening has been deemed a huge success.
After playing 6 tracks to the assembled audience, Annie herself took to the stage for a Q&A in typical Annie style covering a range of different subjects.
What is becoming clear is that the album is going to contain a mix of songs that should be no surprise based on Annie’s posts on Facebook over the last 6 months, and indeed the playlist of tracks from the MITS CD Soundtrack of My Life. Annie has been looking at music from the past and this has obviously given her the creative direction for the new album, and Nostalgia seems a perfect title.
Producer Don Was introduced the project last night which would appear to include the following tracks:
- Memphis In June
- Georgia On My Mind
- Summertime
- I Put A Spell On You
- I Cover The Waterfront
- Strange Fruit
One blog has written today “She breathes new life into the much-covered gems with perhaps the best vocal performance of her long and varied career. (The haunting arrangements also helped).
As yet there are no confirmed details about the release date or the full tracklist of Nostalgia but it would make sense that we are heading towards an October \ November release!
Until we hear from Annie of course, we will just have to wait!
